space for memory, 1996

Created in April of 1996 on the UCSB campus to commemorate the Holocaust on Yom Hashoah. Offering a site for reflection and solace during the week’s events, the walls were covered with 124 votive candles that burned throughout the week. Six large candles marked the 6 million who perished in the Shoah.
