The opening overhead is covered in chain link giving the viewer the feeling of confinement while also offering escape or transcendence through a view of the sky. The space framed the memory of individuals who were victims of the Holocaust. Memories of personal accounts were gathered and hand written on translucent sheets of paper. We chose memories that were powerful and could also stand in for more than one individual. These were placed around the room at varying heights to stand in for the different individuals. Votive lights were placed randomly around the room, surrounding the viewer. Offering a site for reflection and solace during the week\u2019s events, the walls were covered with 124 votive candles that burned throughout the week.
